Lori Waxman

Lori Waxman is a Chicago-based critic and art historian. She writes a biweekly column in the Chicago Tribune and has published in Artforum, Artforum.com, Modern Painters, Gastronomica, Parkett, Tema Celeste, as well as the sadly defunct Parachute, New Art Examiner, and FGA. She teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and completed a doctoral dissertation at the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU, about urban walking as a revolutionary aesthetic practice of the 20th century. The 60 wrd/min art critic is many things: an exploration of short-form art writing, a work of performance art in and of itself, an experiment in role reversal between artist and critic, a democratic gesture, a circumvention of the art review process.
